systeme.io keeps popping up whenever new creators ask, “What’s the cheapest way to sell my first course?”

It’s an all-in-one platform. Sales funnels, email, courses, a blog and payments all live in one account, and there’s a free plan with no end date.

In this review, I’m sticking to what systeme.io’s own pricing page, help centre and terms say. Every price and limit below links to where I found it, so you can check it yourself.

A quick, honest note: Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. I’ve stuck to what each platform’s own pages say and tried to keep this fair.

I’ve been writing on and off for about three years, mostly for my jobs. Lately I’ve started thinking about writing for myself, and that led me to newsletters. When I searched for clear write-ups for people just starting out, I couldn’t find much, so I’m writing the ones I wanted to read. I haven’t used systeme.io myself, so everything in this review comes from its own pricing page, terms and help centre.

The quick verdict

systeme.io is a strong pick if you want to sell a course, coaching or a digital product, and you’d rather not stitch five tools together. The free plan is generous, and systeme.io doesn’t take a transaction fee on any plan systeme.io.

The catches are real, though. The free plan allows just 1 automation rule and has a $10,000 lifetime sales cap systeme.io. You need your own domain to send email systeme.io help. And paid plans aren’t refundable systeme.io terms.

All limits in the table come from systeme.io’s pricing page systeme.io. Prices are in US dollars systeme.io. Paying yearly gets you “2 months free” systeme.io.

Custom domains go up with each plan too: 1 on free, 3 on Startup, 10 on Webinar and unlimited on Unlimited systeme.io. The Webinar plan is the first one with evergreen webinars systeme.io.

There’s also a “Custom” option for teams, which systeme.io describes as everything in Unlimited plus a dedicated success manager. There’s no listed price; you book a call systeme.io.

The free plan, up close

This is where most new creators start, so it’s worth knowing the details.

On free, you get 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 blog, 1 course with up to 500 students, 1 affiliate program and 1 custom domain. Email sends are unlimited systeme.io.

Here’s what to watch for:

  • 1 automation rule and 1 email campaign. That’s enough for one simple setup, like sending a welcome sequence when someone signs up. Not much more systeme.io.
  • The $10,000 sales cap. Free accounts can make up to $10,000 USD in lifetime sales. A warning banner shows up at $8,000 systeme.io help. Once you hit the cap, you get 3 days to upgrade before your payment pages stop taking sales systeme.io terms.
  • Inactive accounts close. Free accounts with no login or activity for 6 months are deactivated systeme.io.
  • Branding stays. Free users can’t remove the “Sent with systeme.io” line from emails systeme.io help or the badge from their pages systeme.io help.

If you sell in Canadian dollars or another currency, your sales are converted to USD to count toward the cap, so exchange rates can change when you reach it systeme.io terms.

What happens if you outgrow your plan

systeme.io sends 3 warning emails, one per day, when you go over a limit systeme.io help.

On a paid plan, if you’re still over after 3 days, you’re upgraded to the next plan automatically, and billed for it systeme.io terms.

On the free plan, your account is restricted instead. Opt-ins and payments stop working, email campaigns pause, and students can’t get into your courses until you upgrade or trim back systeme.io help. Their enrolments and progress are kept systeme.io help.

Funnels and pages

A sales funnel in systeme.io is a series of pages, like an opt-in page, a sales page, an order form and a thank-you page systeme.io help. There are templates to start from systeme.io help.

The pricing page also lists A/B tests, 1-click upsells, order bumps and a link-in-bio page systeme.io.

One small heads-up: systeme.io’s help centre says the page editor doesn’t auto-save systeme.io help. Save often.

Courses

Courses are one of systeme.io’s strongest points for new creators. Every plan includes unlimited students, though free caps your one course at 500 systeme.io.

You build a course with modules and lectures. You can turn on comments, and choose full access, drip content or partial access to specific modules systeme.io help.

There’s also a “light course” option inside a creator store. It’s a simpler format you can build from your phone. The classic course builder is desktop only systeme.io help.

Email and automations

Email is unlimited on every plan systeme.io. You get newsletters, email campaigns (automatic sequences), automation rules and workflows systeme.io.

The big thing to know before you start: you need your own domain to send email. systeme.io says domain authentication is mandatory. You can’t use a Gmail, Yahoo or ProtonMail address, and the domain needs a working website on it systeme.io help. Setup means adding a few DNS records with your domain host systeme.io help.

If you don’t have a domain yet, budget for one before you plan your first email.

Importing a list is simple, but systeme.io asks you to confirm everyone on it agreed to get your emails systeme.io help.

Payments and fees

systeme.io takes 0% transaction fees on every plan, and says you can accept payments through Stripe or PayPal “at no extra cost” systeme.io. You connect your own Stripe account systeme.io help.

Your payment processor still has its own pricing. systeme.io’s pages don’t list Stripe’s or PayPal’s fees, so check those directly before you set your prices.

The pricing page also lists Apple Pay, Razorpay, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago, Xendit and cash on delivery systeme.io. Through Stripe, card payments support 46 currencies, including CAD systeme.io help.

You can sell courses, course bundles, community access, paid calendar events and physical products systeme.io help. For physical products, you handle shipping yourself systeme.io help.

Taxes. systeme.io can add VAT at checkout. For digital products, it uses the buyer’s country rate systeme.io help. I didn’t find anything on its pages about Canadian GST/HST, so if you’re in Canada like me, check with systeme.io and the CRA or an accountant.

Support

systeme.io says its support team is available 24/7, with an average response time of 2 hours, though that can vary with demand systeme.io support. The help centre also points you to tutorial videos and a Facebook group for marketing questions systeme.io help.

Leaving, cancelling and exporting

You can cancel any time. You keep your plan until the next billing date, then drop back to free. Your contacts, funnels and courses aren’t deleted, but your account is restricted if you’re over the free limits systeme.io.

Payments are non-refundable systeme.io, systeme.io terms. So I’d start on free, and only upgrade once you know you need to.

You can export your contacts as a CSV. systeme.io emails you the file, and it’s only available for 3 days systeme.io help.

Who are you dealing with? systeme.io’s terms name ITACWT Limited, a company under Irish law, and say Irish law applies systeme.io terms.

What’s missing or worth thinking about

  • Room to automate on free. One rule and one campaign go fast.
  • A domain from day one. You can’t send email without one systeme.io help.
  • No refunds on plans systeme.io terms.
  • Shipping. systeme.io doesn’t handle it systeme.io help.
  • Canadian sales tax. Not covered on the pages I read.

Who systeme.io suits

  • You want to sell a course, coaching or a digital product from your own pages.
  • You like one login for email, funnels, courses and a blog.
  • You want to keep more of each sale.
  • You already have a domain, or you’re happy to buy one.

Who should look elsewhere

  • You mostly want a newsletter. An email-first tool may fit better. For example, Kit’s free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers Kit, compared with systeme.io’s 2,000 contacts systeme.io.
  • You need lots of automation for free.
  • You want a trial with a refund safety net. systeme.io’s plans aren’t refundable systeme.io terms.

My honest take

On paper, systeme.io gives new creators a lot for free: funnels, a course, a blog, unlimited email and no transaction fee.

The free plan is best for testing one simple offer. Once you want more automations, more contacts or to sell past $10,000, you’ll be looking at Startup at $17/month systeme.io.

If you’re building around a course or product, it’s well worth a look. Start free, set up your domain, and see if it clicks before you pay for anything.
